Brownsburg is a town in Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population, according to the 2016 census, is an estimated 25,408, an increase from 14,520 in 2000. Brownsburg was ranked as the #1 place to live in Indiana, in 2009 by CNN Money Magazine. Brownsburg is located in northeastern Hendricks County. Brownsburg's first settler was James B. Brown, a Kentucky native, who settled in Brown Township in 1824.

Brownsburg High School Community School Corporation

Brownsburg Community School Corporation maintains all public schools in Brownsburg. All public schools are fully accredited. During the 2013-14 school year all Brownsburg schools earned an A for ISTEP testing.

Harris Academy: Harris Academy is a mastery-based small learning community that serves Avon High School (AHS) and Brownsburg High School (BHS) students who are typically juniors and seniors. 

 

ALPHA (Alternative Learning Program at Harrison Academy): ALPHA is designed to enable participating school districts in the provision of a fuller continuum of placement options that meets the needs of students with challenging behaviors.  ALPHA provides a separate day program (LRE 53) for students whose unique learning needs exceed the most intensive supports and services available within individual school districts.  ALPHA provides a small setting with intentional focus on positive behavioral interventions and supports designed to improve students' social/emotional adjustment.  The goal of the ALPHA program is to equip students academically and behaviorally for an eventual transition to their home school district.

The ISTEP scores have averaged 13.2% above the statewide average for the past 2 years. It became a new school in 2005. As of the 2006-2007 school year, 86% of the 952 students are White, 6% are Hispanic, 4% are Black, 2% are Asian, and 2% are Multiracial.

The ISTEP scores have averaged 16.0% above the statewide average for the past 7 years. As of the 2006-2007 school year, 92% of the 701 students are White, 2% are Black, 3% are Hispanic, 1% are Asian, and 2% are Multiracial. 4-Star School.

 

White Lick Elementary School
The ISTEP scores have averaged 10.5% above the statewide average for the past 7 years. As of the 2006-2007 school year, 78% of the 557 students are White, 11% are Black, 3% are Hispanic, 3% are Asian, and 4% are Multiracial.

 

Delaware Trail Elementary School
The ISTEP scores have averaged 12.6% above the statewide average for the past 6 years. It became a new school in 2005. As of the 2006-2007 school year, 83% of the 633 students are White, 10% are Black, 2% are Hispanic, 2% are Asian, and 3% are Multiracial. 4-Star School.

 

Cardinal Elementary School
The ISTEP scores have averaged 12.6% above the statewide average for the past 6 years. It became a new school in 2005. As of the 2006-2007 school year, 90% of the 588 students are White, 1% are Black, 4% are Hispanic, 2% are Asian, 1% Native American, and 2% are Multiracial. 4-Star School.

 

Eagle Elementary School
The ISTEP scores have averaged 18.9% above the statewide average for the past 7 years. As of the 2006-2007 school year, 89% of the 728 students are White, 5% are Black, 2% are Hispanic, 1% are Asian, and 4% are Multiracial. 4-Star School.

 

Reagan Elementary School
Opened for 2008 School year. It was completed in July, 2008. Reagan Elementary School is expected to hold a capacity of 684 students.

Bethesda Christian School
The ISTEP scores have averaged 27.0% above the statewide average for the past 4 years. Graduation rate as of 2006 was 95.7% with 22 students graduating. As of the 2006-2007 school year, 96% of the 408 students are White, .2% are Asian, and 1% are Multiracial. Bethesda Christian School is PK-12 grades and is an Accredited-Freeway School.

Brownsburg is a “small town”, "city on the move", with a lot of “old town” allure. It has a ton of culture, which is a combination of all its great attributes. It's a mixture of all the great attractions and things to do.  

From the historic B&O Trail, this is a beautiful public trail system, the Brownsburg portion of which stretches over 3 miles, and offers tree-lined, paved trails that pass through residential communities and the rural countryside.

To the Lucas Oil Raceway, which is technically located in Indianapolis, at 10267 E US Hwy 136, Lucas Oil Raceway is as big a part of Brownsburg culture as it gets. The raceway is comprised of a .686-mile (1.104 km) oval, a 2.5-mile (4.0 km) road course, and a 4,400-foot (1,300 m) drag strip.

Not to mention, Brownsburg Bowl located at 18 Whittington Drive, Brownsburg Bowl is a fun bowling facility that offers 28 lanes of bowling, two pool tables, an arcade area for the kids, and even decent snack bar that serves a variety of sandwiches, appetizers and pizza.

Brownsburg Farmer’s Market is a favorite destination among  west-siders in search of locally produced goods. Starting around the first week of June, and running through early September, the market sets up shop on the Brownsburg Town Hall Green every Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. It’s a great place to find all kinds of locally-grown produce, artisan baked goods, meat, honey, bread, dairy, and an assortment of handcrafted items.

Brownsburg 8 Movie Theater  is located at 1555 N Green Street in Brownsburg. As the name suggests, it is a multiplex cinema venue that offers 8 different theaters. The midnight movie is a popular passtime among locals. Overall, this is  clean and comfortable theater, with good seating and friendly staff.

Brownsburg is home to several public parks, each of which offers unique and inexpensive recreational opportunities for the family. 

 

Williams Park is located at 940 S Locust Lane. This beautiful, 77-acre park space offers a host of amenities, including a trail that overlooks a 25-foot ravine, several hiking trails, picnic shelters, and a fun playground for the kids.
 

Veterans Memorial Park is located at 940 S. Locust Lane in Brownsburg. This beautiful park features a granite monument dedicated to war veterans who served in over 30 U.S. wars. Etched into the granite are the names of the individual veterans, which identifies the, as men and women who served our country, along with the dates they served.
 

Arbuckle Acres Park is located at 200 N Green St in Brownsburg, Arbuckle Acres is the oldest park in town. This amazing public park features 68 acres of mature shade trees, and boasts a number of amenities, including a baseball complex, lighted basketball and tennis courts, an 8-foot wide asphalt trail that stretches 1.3 miles, and a playground shielded with a canopy of trees.
 

Stephens Park is located at 610 Stephens Road in Brownsburg, just 1 minute north of Williams Park. While it is not a big park, and certainly not the most popular, it nevertheless offers a nice collection of amenities, including a playground, swing set, picnic shelter and plenty of space to roam.

Brownsburg Public Library

Located at 50 S Jefferson Street, the Brownsburg Public Library is a great place to study, meet-up in groups, or just hang out read. The library offers computer services, including computer games that help with literacy and learning. The children’s area is huge, and frequently offers several free classes for children. They also offer many different activities for teenagers, many of which are free, and all of which are affordable. 

Overall, this is a very pleasant library with lots of space and plenty of activities to keep your interest, from books, magazines and newspapers, to DVDs, books-on-tape and other media. And to think, all it takes is a library card to enjoy this wonderful resource.
